The UI Developer is a proactive user interface design & development expert who lives and breathes within this technology space. Someone who understands the fundamentals and is always monitoring emerging technology and trends to ensure that our UI is best of breed. Reporting to the Director, Product Management, the UI Developer works closely with the Product Management/UX and Development teams to create, impose and implement design standards that would support further development.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing functional prototypes into our products through the use of Front-End programming standards. You will be working collaboratively with the UX Designer, software developers and key stakeholders. You will work with UX to create/maintain a Web & UI style guide that will bridge the development of design to implementation. Teamwork skills are very important, as you will work closely with members of various departments.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Converts functional and static mock-ups to web assets.
  • Facilitates/conducts the implementation of front-end styling.
  • Participates in Agile (scrum) development environment.
  • Designs/maintains Web and UI style guide.
  • Provides design support for product mock-ups and style guides. Is familiar with various web UI frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material Design.
  • Provides insightful development strategies to mitigate unnecessary development cycles.
  • Is a strong creative problem solver with a proven track record conceptualizing and designing state-of-the-art web experiences.
  • Is a confident industry expert in their skillset and thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Interacts with internal clients/stakeholders in a professional manner

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Develops through an iterative design process, driven by group critique.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as you will be interacting with several stakeholders on a daily basis.
  • A self-starter with a proven ability to define the process.
  • Able to take creative direction and work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects at a time.
  • Strong knowledge of Web design principles and best practices.
  • Experience in using UI frameworks.
  • Mobile-ready/mobile first design experience.
  • HTML5 / CSS3 / SASS / JavaScript.
  • Adobe Creative Suite / Sketch.
  • Experience in Web development environments (Node, Gulp, Git).

Assets

  • Experience with AngularJS, ReactJS, and/or other JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience in Agile development.
  • Experience developing with popular CMS tools such as WordPress, Drupal.
  • Experience with task-management software such as JIRA.
  • Able to design web assets from scratch without relying on UI Frameworks.
