We are currently looking for a Systems Administrator located in our Saint John Corporate office to support the Manager of Infrastructure in delivering IT Technology necessary for CAA Atlantic to meet its business goals. In order to do this the IT Infrastructure must perform effectively, be reliable, be secure and be cost effective.

Having a passion for technology the Systems Administrator will be responsible for both the direct and indirect design, installation and maintenance of many core technologies relied on by the business, staff and our members. Technologies include our corporate network, SAN, VMWare, Cloud Backup, O365, VPN, firewalls, Cyber Security Protection Systems, etc. To deliver on this the Infrastructure the Systems Administrator must work as part of a team and often manage external consultants.

Overall the System Administrator's role is to ensure that the company's IT infrastructure is secure from a cyber security perspective and functioning as effectively as possible, never sluggish or outdated. To deliver on this some infrequent overtime and after-hours support in addition to some travel throughout Atlantic Canada will be necessary. Applicant must have a valid driver's license.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Oversight: Assists the Infrastructure Manager in the establishment of standard processes/procedures that ensure all activities involving our IT Infrastructure are performed by IT staff or external consultants consistently, accurately and safely.
  • Technical Asset Management and Record Keeping: Assists the Infrastructure Manager in making sure all relevant IT Infrastructure data is collected, stored and maintained. Data here includes information on various technical devices, service agreements, technical configuration, patch levels, performance metrics, etc.
  • Infrastructure Roadmap: Through self-study, collaboration with other CAA clubs and working with the both the Director of Information Technology and the Infrastructure Manager assist in making sure our IT infrastructure remains relevant, secure and aligns with Industry best practice where appropriate.
  • Project Management and Planning: Works closely with project stakeholders to ensure that IT Infrastructure deliverables are identified and delivered in a quality manner on schedule.
  • Helpdesk Management: On a rotational basis assists with the day to day operation of the CAA Atlantic Helpdesk by taking tier 1 support calls and participating in an after-hours on-call rotation.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Diploma in Information Technology plus 5 years hands on work experience maintaining corporate IT infrastructure and leading IT Infrastructure projects. A combination of education and suitable working experience will also be considered.
  • Through workplace example has proven ability to meet deadlines and provide timely status updates to project stakeholders and management.
  • Through workplace example proven ability to author technical processes, procedures and checklists.
  • Experience and knowledge of cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies
  • Experience with standard IT processes (i.e. Patch Management, Risk Management, Capacity Management, etc.)
  • Operating Systems - Configuration and management of Microsoft Servers/Workstations, VMWare, iOS, Android, Linux, Cisco IOS, etc.
  • Server Technologies - Solid understanding of operating systems, physical/virtual servers, storage, backups, high availability, etc.
  • Microsoft Active Directory maintenance and Cloud based Office 365 Administration.
  • Hardware maintenance/support of PCs, peripherals, smartphone/tablets (i.e. both iOS & Android), etc.
  • IT Standard Process - Through self-study, collaboration with other CAA clubs and working with the Director Information Technology ensure standard operating processes and procedures are established and followed.
  • Modern LAN/WAN switched networking both wired/wireless.
  • IT Infrastructure, Networking and Desktop security (e.g. Data Encryption, Certificates, VPN, etc.).
  • Desktop security (i.e. Anti-virus, Anti-malware) products.
  • Vendor Management - Manages software maintenance agreements and project deployments with external vendors.
