The Opportunity
CareGuide is one of Canada's fastest growing startups. We have tripled our revenue and team in the past year, and our marketplaces enjoy double digit monthly growth rates. We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us grow even faster.
Our team operates a unique set of job marketplaces aimed at helping families find caregivers across the US and Canada. To fuel our growth, we run a number of automated marketing systems and take an experimental, data-driven approach to product design. Experts in the field have seen what we've done and are astounded. You'd be working with pros here.
The ideal candidate has the creativity of a marketer and the skills of a software engineer. The role involves both designing growth initiatives and executing on them.
No experience necessary. But you have to be ingenious, analytical, and ambitious.
We follow modern software development practices, including TDD, CI, and code reviews. Our current stack includes Ruby, Rails, Haml, Sass, React, MySQL, Solr, Redis, and AWS. We will also be building mobile apps over the next year.
We are looking for ambitious candidates who will be able to scale up as the company grows.

What you'll do
Responsibilities
One of CareGuide's biggest strengths: we are extremely good at aligning our team members strengths with their positions. The job may include all of these responsibilities, or you could be doing a small selection of them.
- Digging into our data to find potential opportunities
- Designing solutions for problems our users experience every day
- Building user-facing front end solutions
- Enhancing our back-end matching algorithm
- Analyzing the results of A/B tests and experiments to pull out important learnings
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Data Oriented
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JS
- Working knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming
- Experience using any backend framework (bonus points for Rails)
- Working knowledge of SQL based database
