The Opportunity
Highline Beta builds and funds ventures in collaboration with global corporate enterprises across a variety of industries. In some cases we incubate new startups from the outside and in others we support internal corporate innovation projects. For example, we've helped RBC Ventures launch 10+ new ventures in market across multiple verticals. This has involved doing early validation work into opportunities, mockups and early prototyping, roadmap support and strategic coaching.
As a Senior Product Manager - Client Strategy you'll work with a cross functional team of product designers, developers, and researchers to support our corporate partners in discovery, validation, and building of new businesses that have the potential to impact millions of lives. You and your team will roll up their sleeves and collaborate directly with corporate clients with the mission of helping them to successfully find product-market fit while at the same time coaching them on product and new venture development best practices.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Product managers at Highline Beta are customer-obsessed doers who are driven by outcomes vs outputs.
- You've shipped products of varying stages of maturity, but tend to enjoy working on new and early products the most.
- You're equally comfortable leading a meeting with corporate executives as you are in the trenches building product with seasoned designers and developers.
- In a typical day you could be engaging in a number of activities to support our corporate clients, including:
- Pitch a new product concept / venture opportunity to a room of corporate execs.
- Lead and coach corporate client teams on a product discovery workshop for one of their internal ventures.
- Work with Product Designers to organize and conduct user interviews, synthesize insights, and define key value propositions.
- Support Product Designers and Developers to brainstorm solutions, wireframe prototypes, make technical tradeoffs, scope and build MVPs.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Required Skills / Experiences
- 5+ years of relevant professional product management experience, including defining vision, strategy, outcome-driven product roadmaps and actionable backlogs.
- Expert in hypothesis driven approach to product discovery and delivery.
- Experience working within or consulting for large corporate enterprises.
- Ability to facilitate collaborative decision-making in a workshop context.
- Ability to quickly understand a specific domain and identify the trends and opportunities in that space.
- Flexible and goal oriented with the ability to align competing viewpoints around KPIs.
- Excellent decision making and ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities.
- A knack for understanding the big picture and driving simple solutions to complex problems / situations.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience with design thinking and lean startup methodologies.
- Solid understanding of modern web and mobile platforms from both a technical and UX perspective.
- A drive to get better every day and always looking for opportunities to learn.
- Able to travel up to 30%.
Desired Skills / Experiences
- Experience launching both new products (1st user) as well as managing products at scale (1M+).
- Practical knowledge of latest advances in technology (e.g. AI, blockchain) and their potential in building new products.
- Familiarity / ability to work a Sketch / Figma file and / or write CSS.
- Prior technical experience architecting or coding software products.
- Experience coaching / mentoring other product managers.
