We are seeking a talented individual with passion, initiative, and enthusiasm to join our team as a Network Engineer. Success in this role will be the result of a broad technical background with a concentration in Ethernet and IP network technologies, systems architecture, a positive outlook and attitude, and the ability to build consensus within cross-discipline project teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day ownership of data center networks, including the design and architecture, development and enforcement of standards, security, sustainability, scalability, deployment, and operations. You will be responsible for meeting our customers' demands for the highest quality and reliability. Our customers challenge us to deliver better service, faster and cheaper in the highly competitive market. To meet these demands, you must understand and embrace DevOps frameworks when managing private and public cloud networks. 

You will focus on technology evaluation and selection, as well as emerging technologies research in support of Managed Hosting Cloud products. Candidate will play a key strategic role in the organization's technical direction and future products development lifecycle.

Candidate should also expect to be called into customer engagements, pre-sales consultations, and provide 7x24 network management and support.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy network solutions using physical and virtual network appliances.
  • Develop and implement network configuration automation scripts.
  • Analyze and assess network systems and suggest and deploy solutions to improve performance and functionality.
  • Ensure integration of all network components with monitoring tools.
  • Prepare development plans for compliance with standards and practices.
  • Participate in the product development process throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in vendor selection processes.
  • Prepare technical specifications and requirements for various project.
  • Participate in discussions with architecture team around standards and practices
  • Present formal recommendations for review by peers, defend recommendations in team discussions.
  • Serve as consultant and subject matter expect to internal engineering and operational teams.
  • Continually pursue opportunities for personal career development.
  • Maintain knowledge of cloud technologies and innovations in relevant areas.
  • Qualify vendor software releases for production readiness.
  • Deliver fantastic customer experience.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an engineering field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Ethernet and IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
  • Experience knowledge of and experience with major Internet routing protocols, network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
  • Experience with firewall technologies and secure networks design principals
  • Deep knowledge and significant experience, and deep expertise in many of the following: Ethernet, IP, TCP, BGP, OSPF, PIM, IGMP, MPLS, FC, FCoE, CDN, WAP, DNS, HTTP, SSL, netflow, 802.2/3, 802.1d, 10G, 40/100G Futures, Linux/Unix
  • Ability to integrate solution with various cloud technologies
  • Must be able to deploy and maintain security, caching and load balancing technologies based on physical and virtual appliances
  • Managing concurrent projects and planning transitions between projects
  • Applicant must be eligible to work in Canada and the United States
  • Candidate must be able to undergo criminal record check and federal security clearance screening

Preferred Qualifications

  • A background in large-scale network design is highly desired
  • A practical experience using scripting tools like Chef and Puppet is a huge plus
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Telephony and VoIP technologies is an asset
