Cedar Sinai Park is looking for an excellent full-time, Medical Billing and Collections Specialist!

The Medical Billing Specialist works in the Accounting department and is part of a team of two that is responsible for nursing accounts receivable.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

The Medical Billing Specialist will analyze and bill for resident care services. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy, billing functions and billing codes. Establishes and maintains individual resident detail accounts. Post charges, receipts and adjustments to individual accounts. Support the various modalities in implementation and maintenance of charge sheets and processes to ensure complete, accurate and timely resident billing to all payers.

Ensures authorization processes are in place and authorizations are obtained where necessary.

Reviews and corrects all billable claims in accordance with specific payer guidelines and requirements.

Bill Medicare and Medicaid for services to eligible recipients. Track and notify appropriate staff regarding termination of benefits. Assist residents and families with problems related to billings and collections.

Reconcile detailed accounts receivable records to the general ledger control account.

Prepare and reconcile aging analysis at month-end. Research, identify and recommend the correct codes and changes to be used in conjunction with new service opportunities and research compliance issues with new and existing services as required. Verify eligibility of recipients. Communicate with Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party payers/providers regarding changes in resident status. Review change in Medicare and Medicaid regulations and notify appropriate staff of changes and their impact. Prepare census data for Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports. Reconcile Medicare with "paid claims". Product accurate financial and productivity statistics.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, bachelors degree in healthcare administrators or business. Experience with electronic clinical records systems, comprehension of medical terminology. Consistent execution of quality customer service. Ethical conduct. Able to effectively communicate with geriatric and/or confused residents and a variety of other people such as family members, visitors, vendors, Private Duty Residents, and staff. Positive and constructive attitude. Comprehension of medical terminology, advance keyboard/computer skills. Basic working knowledge of office equipment such as copier, printer. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.

Cedar Sinai Park's roots are firmly planted within the Portland Jewish Community. In 1920, the need arose for housing for the elderly, and the community responded by furnishing a 16-room Victorian home in the heart of the primarily Jewish neighborhood in Old South Portland. Originally named the Jewish Old People's Home, it served seniors at that location until the 1950s. In 1954, the Board of Trustees purchased and broke ground on seven acres of farmland in southwest Portland, where suburban neighborhoods were beginning to crop up. Today CSP continues to serve our community, residents and patients and has grown to 365 employees. Our motto is Love, Honor, Respect. We're a special team, with big hearts and high standards.
