Our Real Property team is seeking a Foreclosure and Residential Property Paralegal to join our Halifax Office. As part of our Real Property Team you will independently and effectively manage foreclosure sale transactions and provide residential transaction support to the team.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

As a Foreclosure and Residential Property Paralegal you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in all aspects of foreclosure sale and residential property files including correspondence, listings, overseeing property management, attending to closings, insurance claims, reports and other documentation while maintaining both internal and external software and databases
  • Preparing necessary documents including deeds, HST certificates, adjustments, statutory declarations, final reports and other associated closing documents for both sales and purchases
  • Liaising with external parties including property managers, appraisers, real estate agents, purchasers, etc.
  • Conducting all accounting related processes for all property transactions, including liaising with financial institutions to obtain mortgage releases and to deposit closing funds

What you'll need

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Paralegal or Legal Administration diploma or other related education, with experience in a legal support role
  • Excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, be highly detail-oriented, and be flexible to changing priorities
  • Exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and legal billing systems
  • Exceptional communication skills, a special focus on client service and the highest degree of professionalism
  • Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will be strong team player and have high personal integrity
  • Property experience will be considered an asset
