 The Scotiabank Center and the Halifax Convention Center, managed by Events East Group, is now inviting applicants to be considered for an Event Technician (ET) Shift Supervisor with our Event Management Team.

Reporting to the ET Department Supervisors, this leadership role assists in the management of both teams and shift operations to ensure the safe, timely, customer-focused set-up and tear-down of events and related equipment at various Events East properties. As a representative of both the department and the organization, the ET Shift Supervisor handles all client interactions in a friendly and courteous manner with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, striving to consistently exceed our customer’s expectations and demonstrate service excellence values. This role also provides leadership, coaching and mentorship for the ET hourly staff and contract workers, assigning direction and task operatives to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of activity in support of all facility events.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Plan and allocate resources (time, equipment, staffing, etc.) required for event operations.
  • Determine daily tasks, delegate and provide support to ET staff, and make necessary judgment decisions to ensure all work is completed and event deadlines are met.
  • Complete full, accurate shift reports documenting record of important information observed on a daily basis.
  • Play a lead role in use/training of computerized event management system.
  • Communicate any major event related changes to Event Managers when necessary.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have worked in a similar position, preferably with previous supervisory experience in directing work groups; experience and/or familiarity with Events East facilities and standards of service is ideal.
  • Strong, applied knowledge of the events industry, occupational health & safety, and team leadership are key foundations for success in this role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills along with being a strong communicator are also essential.
  • Certification for forklift, zoom boom, and scissor lift is preferred.
  • While this salaried position is full time, the hours of work will vary depending on event activity: accommodating a flexible work schedule is a must.
