** This job is available in both Toronto and Halifax **
We are looking for a highly motivated Front-end Web Developer, based out of our Toronto or Halifax office, who has a thorough understanding of CSS, JavaScript, accessibility, and web standards. You also need to be enthusiastic about creating world-class user experiences for a variety of projects including websites, internal apps and dashboards, digital campaigns, and more.

What you'll do
Responsibilities
Develop semantic HTML and lean CSS & JS, while having an eye for good project architecture
Be well-versed in the browser compatibility landscape, knowing when and how to use feature detection, polyfills, and other current techniques when appropriate
Accurately translate wireframes and designs into slick front-end templates
Understand typical web page performance bottlenecks, how to identify them, and how to avoid them
Understand and practice progressive enhancement and the "Mobile First" philosophy
Integrate with other development teams as an advocate for user experience and be a subject matter expert in front-end development
Review and contribute feedback in regards to project requirements, wireframes, and design, proposing alternative user experience solutions when warranted
Participate in the scoping and estimating of solutions
Be accountable for deadlines and quality of work
Be open when providing feedback to project managers and team leads
Be a team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing environment
What you'll need
Qualifications
A minimum 5 years of experience in the web industry
A related degree or diploma and/or equivalent experience
Experience using CSS preprocessors like Sass or LESS
Experience using task runners like Grunt or Gulp
Experience with module bundlers like Webpack or Browserify
An affinity for the command line, and a desire to consistently improve the efficiency of your workflow
Understanding of web accessibility, assistive technologies, and the typical solutions to adhering to WCAG 2.0 and WAI-ARIA specifications
Working knowledge of source control systems such as Git or Subversion
A basic understanding of WordPress, when required
Good design sense (some formal training would be a plus)
A working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with all levels in the organization
Working knowledge of user experience design processes, industry standards, and trends
