The Opportunity
The Maritime Helicopter Program has an opening for an experienced resource to fill the Operator/Technician role on the Maritime Helicopter Training Suite (MHTS). The MHTS devices are used to train Department of National Defense (DND) personnel in the safe operation and maintenance of the Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone helicopter. The MHTS devices are housed in a dedicated school located at CFB Shearwater, Halifax.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
• Prepare, operate and maintain training devices used during practical instruction on the CH148 Cyclone aircraft system and sub-systems. Devices include:
- Level-D full motion flight simulators
- Aircraft Maintenance Trainer Upper
- Hoist Procedures Trainer
- Engine Change unit
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on all training devices
• Ensure MHTS devices are ready to support all training activities
• Repair and troubleshoot issues on MHTS devices
• Operate MHTS devices during training events as required
• Track device usage and maintenance
• Install, document and maintain MHTS device upgrades
• Train others in the operation of MHTS devices
What you'll need
Qualifications
• Possess or be capable of attaining a NATO Secret security classification on hire
• Proven ability in planning and problem solving
• College diploma with over 5 years of experience
• Possess a working knowledge of common office computer software applications
• Attention to detail
• Excellent skills in oral and written communication
• Ability to work well with others in a stressful, dynamic environment
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work shift work (two shifts per day 6:30am - 3:00pm, 2:30pm - 11:00pm)
• Be physically fit as this role can be physically demanding with a requirement to access tight or hard to reach areas of operations
The following items are highly desirable and would be an asset on application:
- Experience with visual projection systems
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Experience with Electrical/electronic systems repair
- Experience in a technical maintenance field
- Experience in the aviation industry (fixed or rotary wing)
- Previous simulator support or operation experience
