Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Junior Communications Counsel is primarily responsible for the tactical delivery of Atlantic Lottery’s external and internal communications strategies. Working with all members of the Communications and Public Affairs teams, the Junior Communications Counsel will take on executing the tactics of specific communications files. In particular, this role will participate in the execution of the Employee Communications Strategy, the Corporate Social Media Strategy, and will support the Winners team – all of which directly support the division’s broader corporate reputation efforts.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Execute Employee Communications Strategy tactics: create and manage content for corporate Intranet site and employee app, plan logistics for internal events.

Assist with publications: manage the creation of the Annual Report, including managing agency relationships and deadlines.

Execute Corporate Social Media Strategy tactics: use Atlantic Lottery’s brand voice and tone to create corporate content for social media channels and digital newsroom, including creating and editing video and photos; use social media management tool to assist Customer Care team with corporate responses on social media; manage proactive social media content calendar (communications content only).

Writing: news releases, messaging documents, letters, advisories.

Earned media analytics and monitoring: Use analytics tool to prepare measurement reports and dashboards, regularly monitor media and social media to identify emerging issues and trends.

Coordinate publishing web content and news release distribution to media, including translation.

Execute communications support for major wins: provide on-site support to the Winners team (travel throughout Atlantic Canada required), execute media relations and at times act as corporate spokesperson on social media livestreams.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
  • Prior experience in a communications-related position.
  • Ability to think strategically and understand Atlantic Lottery’s business.
  • Prior experience with digital content creation and social media management. Experience with LinkedIn is an asset.
  • Strong writing skills and experience with Canadian Press style.
  • Organized and self-motivated.
  • An understanding of Atlantic Canada’s socio-political environment and current affairs.
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset
