Reporting to the Manager, Finance - Sales and Receivables, the Senior Accountant - Sales is responsible for Gross Profit including a thorough understanding of all transactions, associated business processes, applicable legislative and regulatory considerations, and appropriate accounting treatments. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of corporate budget and projections, for monthly analysis of financial performance and impact on goals set, as well as for providing timely business and customer support in all areas of accountability.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting - Prepare/review journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis to ensure financial transactions are complete, reliable, and compliant with IFRS standards and other applicable legislation; maintain a solid understanding of Chart of Accounts and tax rules.

Reporting and Analysis - Prepare / review internal and external reports and requests for information, as required.

Budgets and Projections - Work closely with Sales and Gross Profit business planners to prepare the annual budget and quarterly projections. Validate assumptions, analyze results to assess impact on corporate goals, and provide recommendations regarding risks and opportunities.

Variance Analysis - Analyze monthly financial results to assess impact on ALC's corporate financial goals.

Financial Systems (Super User) - Financial Systems Super-user for the Oracle applications, ensuring optimization of the applications to maximize process efficiency and system performance; possess a complete understanding of system logic, all integration points and accounting requirements; troubleshoot and problem solve as required, while ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards, etc.

Gross Profit (SME) - Maintain completeness and accuracy of Gross Profit results including analysis of, and recommendations regarding, business processes to ensure the appropriate recognition of transactions.

Compliance and Documentation: Review, analyze and action change to processes and documentation to align with emerging standards and legislation changes to ensure appropriate and correct recognition in accordance with CRA and other applicable legislation.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • You have a CPA designation
  • You have a minimum of five years' experience in an intermediate finance role with emphasis on analytical work
  • Experience working under IFRS legislation is considered an asset
  • Experience with Oracle eBS, Hyperion, and Oracle OBIEE considered an asset
  • You have a high level of accuracy/attention to detail
  • You possess strong critical thinking and data analysis skills
  • You are customer service focused
  • You have a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • This position is for a full-time 14-month term position with benefits
